Graduate Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher
Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher – TiQ Programme – Salaried Route to QTS – April Start Date
If you are a graduate who has some previous experience working with children as a Teaching Assistant or volunteer and are looking to train in 2018, admissions for the TiQ April cohort
Teach in Qualified (TiQ) is a salaried programme that takes you from Teaching Assistant through to Qualified Teacher via a more gradual and natural progression to some other Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programmes. By starting as a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to find your feet in your placement school before taking on teaching responsibilities.
Through independent research, undertaking further responsibilities in your role and attending the TiQ training sessions, you will transition away from your role as a Teaching Assistant and into an independent teacher. Many graduates spend a whole year working as a Teaching Assistant and a year of intensive training, whereas TiQ combines the Teaching Assistant and ITT in a gradual programme which has the added bonus of no course fees and a salary which increases in line with your growing responsibility as you train!
Application Criteria for TiQ Teaching Assistant to QTS Programme:
- 2:1 or 1st Class Honours Degree
- Previous experience of working with children (ideally, but not imperatively as a Teaching Assistant)
- Understanding of UK curriculum and education system
