If you are a Graduate Teaching Assistant and are looking to start your journey towards Qualified Teacher Status, then you don’t have to worry about UCAS applications, tuition fees or waiting until September to get started with the TiQ Initial teacher training Programme.
Teach in Qualified (TiQ) is a salaried programme that takes you from Teaching Assistant through to Qualified Teacher via a more gradual and flexible progression, giving you the time and support to develop both your teaching ability and confidence. By starting as a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to settle into your placement school before gradually taking on increasing teaching responsibilities.
Through increasing responsibilities and the experience of working full time in your placement school, you will transition away from your role as a Teaching Assistant and into that of a teacher. Many graduates spend a whole year working as a Teaching Assistant and a year of intensive The TiQ programme combines the experience of working as a teaching assistant with the theory and pedagogy of an ITT programme, giving you a phased transition from Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher.
Application Criteria for TiQ Teaching Assistant to QTS Programme:
- 2:1 or 1st Class Honours Degree (subject specific if secondary)
- Previous experience of working with children (ideally, but not imperatively as a Teaching Assistant)
- Understanding of UK curriculum and education system
