Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher
TiQ Programme – Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher Status – Salaried Programme for London
The Teach in Qualified programme is a salaried course that takes graduates from Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher Status through training sessions and a gradual increase in responsibilities.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the chance to find your feet in your placement school before taking on teaching responsibilities later in the programme. As well as growing accustomed to general school life, your time as a Teaching Assistant will give you the opportunity to get to know the pupils and staff at the school and get to grips with some of the theory behind teaching before you have to take a class yourself.
The support and training starts while you are a Teaching Assistant so that the transition from Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher is as seamless as possible. Your responsibilities will develop at a natural pace so that you are picking up increasing levels of independent teaching at a rate that suits you and you have the time you need to feel prepared for your teaching responsibilities.
It’s still not too late to start the course at the beginning of the 2017/18 academic year, alternatively there are start dates available for January, too.
