Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher Status

Teach In Qualified (TiQ)- Salaried route from Teaching Assistant to Qualified Teacher Status.

Placement school available in South East London, starting in April 2018

The TiQ course is a gradual approach to initial teacher training. Starting your career as a Teaching Assistant you will take on increasing responsibility through a 6 phase flexible course structure which will provide you with the valuable experience and pedagogical knowledge you need to be fully prepared once you gain Qualified Teacher Status.

Through the TiQ course, you will develop your experience and knowledge as a teaching assistant, gradually taking on increasing responsibilities with each phase. The nature of the programme, starting off as a Teaching Assistant and progressing onto team teaching and independent teaching, ensures that you are fully prepared before taking on additional responsibilities in the classroom. Once you begin independently teaching in your third phase, your timetable will gradually increase until you are teaching a similar timetable to an NQT. Throughout the course, you will have an in-school mentor and external tutor providing support and advice, and ensuring you are developing into the best education practitioner possible.

Our professional development days are run by a SCITT partner, who are committed to ensuring new teachers gain the support and knowledge required to prepare them for their long-term career in education. Training will be provided from the day you begin work as a Teaching Assistant up until you gain newly qualified status.

All fees and training costs are covered by the school, who will pay you a salary while you train.

The placement school has an excellent reputation, with an experienced and enthusiastic SLT and excellent OFSTED reports.

  • Either a 2:1 or higher Honours degree or a 2:2 with exceptional experience
