A wonderful primary school in Islington, London, are looking for graduates who have an interest in working as a SEN Teaching Assistant this academic year. You may be looking for experience in a primary school before embarking on teacher training next September, or you might be looking to build up your knowledge of the role of a SEN Teaching Assistant before applying to other specialist training or positions.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will be working in small groups or on a 1-to-1 basis with children who have Special Educational Needs, but are taught within a mainstream environment. Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant is not essential, so long as you are a graduate with experience of working with children and have the desire to help remove pupils’ barriers to learning so they have a solid foundation before moving on to secondary education.
The school have a welcoming and supportive team of staff who will allow you time to find your feet as a SEN Teaching Assistant and will provide you with any of the relevant training on safeguarding, etc. They also have fantastic facilities, which will give you all of the tools to make a real impact on the pupils’ education.
